Why is this release limited to 2,000 copies?
The U.S. pressing of 2,000 copies is the RSD exclusive allocation. An additional quantity was pressed for international distribution, bringing the total worldwide to approximately 4,000 copies. A common misconception is that the label chooses the pressing quantity - that is not how it works. Oglio pitches a release concept to Record Store Day, and RSD determines how many copies to press. It is their call, not ours. The pressing size reflects the realities of the program, and Oglio has been in business for over 30 years with every incentive to put records in as many hands as possible.
Why isn't it available outside the U.S.?
International availability is determined by each country's RSD participation and local distributor relationships. Oglio has no control over which stores in Japan, Europe, or elsewhere choose to stock or receive RSD titles. That said, copies were pressed and distributed internationally - so if your local shop did not carry it, it may be worth checking other stores in your area or online.
Why can I only find it on eBay for inflated prices?
Please do not panic-buy from resellers. Per the official RSD Pledge that all participating stores sign, pre-orders and holds are explicitly prohibited, which means everything sells first come, first served on RSD day - and that can create a brief window where resellers appear to be the only option. However, many stores list remaining inventory on their websites the day after Record Store Day, once online sales are permitted. This year, the day after RSD (Sunday, April 19), numerous independent record stores began offering mail order on their remaining stock - and copies of "On Tour 1999-2007" were available at reasonable retail prices. Patience pays off. Check store websites, Discogs, and social media before spending a fortune on eBay.
Did Brian Wilson's management approve this release?
Yes. This release was made with full authorization from the appropriate rights holders. Oglio does not release material without proper approvals in place.
Is Oglio planning a wider release, CD release, digital download, or streaming release?
We cannot comment on specific future release plans at this time, but we can share our thinking. Independent record stores are the heart of music culture, and Record Store Day exists specifically to support them. When Oglio participates in RSD, we are making a deliberate choice to give independent retailers an exclusive window to sell something special - without competition from Amazon, big-box stores, or streaming platforms. Those stores take a real financial risk ordering RSD titles with no guarantee of what they will receive or what will sell, and we believe they deserve that window. Brian Wilson has always been an artist who connects deeply with true music fans, and there is no better place for that connection to happen than a local record store. We appreciate your patience, and we encourage you to support the independent stores that make events like this possible. Any announcements regarding additional formats or wider availability will be posted to Oglio's social media channels and website.
